Dual Sport Adventure Riding is quickly becoming a very poplular hobby and to some of us, even a lifestyle. Many new riders will buy an enduro/dual sport bike but then become overwhelmed with all the options of making it a true adventure machine. This is why we are proud to present to you the MotoEx Dual Sport Academy (DSA) led by entrepreneur and suspension extraordinaire, Travis Jones along side of certified emergency medical technician, Wayne Mitchell.
Our Dual Sport Academy is designed to prepare the novice rider for our Rendezvous LITE expedition by introducing several key concepts of true adventure riding. During the course you'll also be able to gain invaluable knowledge of the gear that works best for others so you can better equip yourself and machine.
Followed are some of the skills that will be covered during the 2-day course:
❏ on-road/off-road riding techniques
❏ proper gear and packing techniques
❏ trail maintenance and repairs
❏ field tool suggestions and demonstrations
❏ basic survival techniques
❏ intro to adventure rider CPR and first aid
Because this is an overnight course and an intro into self-sufficient adventure riding, there are several key pieces of gear that we require every student to bring along with them:
❏ a means of carrying your gear securely on your bike* (panniers, soft bags, etc)
❏ shelter (tent, tarp, hammock, etc)
❏ sleeping bag
❏ flashlight or headlamp
❏ trail meals and a way to prepare them**
❏ drinking water (preferrably a Camelbak type)
❏ at least (1) spare front tube to fit your specific tire/rim size
❏ a positive attitude
*all riders must possess a current motorcycle endorsement and a currently registered street legal bike equipped with spark arrestor
**standard issue MREs will be available for purchase at sign-in
DUAL SPORT ACADEMY
INTRODUCTION

Travis Jones was raised around motorcycles and started riding pretty much everyday at the young age of 6. Following in his father’s footsteps, he soon began experimenting in his own suspension systems, taking them apart, modifying them, and changing things around to see what would happen. He then went on to attend the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in 1993 and entered the field full time as a motorcycle technician. Since then he has also attended all of the Race Tech schools (some of them twice) and Traxxion Dynamics suspension school in order to improve his skills as a master motorcycle technician. Travis is now the owner of Go-Race Inc out of Christiansburg, VA, a competitive contender in the VCHSS series, and an avid dual sport rider.

Wayne Mitchell served in the US Army both as an enlisted Airborne Infantryman and later as a commissioned Engineer Officer. Following his 20 years of honorable military service, he became an EMT and Law Enforcement Officer in the Department of Interior and now lives in Key West, Florida with his wife and two kids.
